Karaoke

Yesterday I went Karaoke with another friend. Once again a familiar query arose: "Have you ever muffled the original singing sound?" so once again I put the microphone far away from my mouth and proved that the voice she just heard was indeed from my throat, ha!

Later when the list of the picked songs went through a song "她来听我的演唱会" (She came to listen to my live concert) from 张学友 (Jacky Cheung), though a very old one, its well-written lyrics plus my improvising, still moved us into tears, unbelievable…

I don't sing much in usual life, because I usually can't find anything in common between art and science and don't have enough energy to comfortably switch between the two worlds. When you are pondering over a programming code or scratching your head on initiating a business plan, the most beautiful music in the world from the radio is merely the most annoying noise. "拳不离手, 曲不离口", as a result, I was able to easily detect my diminishing singing skills after two hours' continuous howling.

In fact many people have potentials in various fields. But either because you even did not notice them or you chose something else that you feel is more suitable for your career, you have forsaken them as your lovely avocation. If I had not been occupied by e-commerce and so much computer stuff but had been sent to a conservatory to learn more musical theories and practices, I probably would have become a singer, an instrumentalist or something, who knows…
